Our Little Family Thanksgiving

Our Little Family Thanksgiving

Another year, another killer turkey… YUM!

Here are the highlights. πŸ™‚

Poor little Rae is sick, again, we can’t seem to fully shake any illness. She refused to nap yesterday and since the turkey was almost finished we went in, picked her up, wiped the rivers of snot from her face and plopped her down with a Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookie. πŸ™‚ (Recipe here and here.) You can tell she’s exhausted, poor girl, but perhaps too far past sleepy to even think about going down without a fight.

The bib she’s wearing is the same bib we’ve had since Olivia’s first Thanksgiving. I got it years ago at a Burlington Coat factory for $3 or $4 and Rae is the second babe to wear it. πŸ™‚ Duncan’s first Thanksgiving was spent at the beach with Papa and Grandma Tanya in Lincoln City. It was a last-minute type of deal so we ended up just running out the door and I didn’t have it with us. He lived. I think Grandma Tanya fed him oyster stuffing and some of that lovely Nacho Cheese that she and Grandma Sherry just love… shudder… I love you both but… that cheese… shudder. Perhaps it’s the lactose intolerance in me, LOL. Regardless, Duncan LOVED it and all without a bib.

Normally I pull out the China for our Thanksgiving dinner but this year was the first year with a tiny table, so I opted against it. We went with our regular dishes, red table linens, and our Disney place cards. πŸ™‚ The kids LOVE these. Having the table made this interesting to say the least, we basically only brought over a few things, and dished up the rest from the kitchen. Our little turkey gave off quite a bit of meat though! I may not need to freeze any of it this year, as long as we go through it quickly enough.

The Menu

The, uhm… Duncan “animal” at the table. This is his new pose…

All in all, we had a yummy dinner and probably ended up eating too much, haha, although – who doesn’t at Thanksgiving dinner! We’re excited to do it again next year. πŸ™‚ Next week: Thanksgiving at the Wagners’.

More on Monday! πŸ™‚
