When I was a girl, all the women in my family had sewing machines. My Grandmas were both very talented – costume, clothes, dresses, toys, Barbie and doll clothes… the list goes on. My Grandma on my Dad’s side had a specialty of her own – quilts. While I grew up with all the thread, needles, woven cottons and such it wasn’t until I grew up that I realized how different each project could be. All the different fabrics alone were new to me.
I read and check a few blogs each day, when I get a chance to sit for two minutes at a time, and a few of them are quilting blogs. Here are a few of my favorites:
A Quilting Life [The colors chosen here are so beautiful! ]
The Material Girls Quilts [LOVE the Paper Dolls Quilt! Second post down.]
Tallgrass Prairie Studio [She has such great ideas, and so unique! I love her “Orange Crush Revisited”.]
I can only hope that one day I could be as good as some of these quilters are. While I’ve put it off I really need to get on myself about making an effort to sew more – especially the quilting! For now, I’m happy flipping through the pages of blogs on here and drooling at all the wonderful work these women have done. Makes my little scrap cowboy quilt for Duncan look so minimal!
More later. 🙂
